The club has been very busy in a number of directions. In the midst, the entire club is getting ready for the AGM. We thank June Greene for taking the time to organize a very successful garage sale, which raised funds for the Niagara Club. June thanks the members of the club who came out to help set up, price and sell the many fine treasures, all donated by club members.
Have you got your ticket for the "Roaring Twenty" painted by artist Marion Patten. It will be raffled off at the AGM of the Bruce Trail Club in September. Keith Rae, encourages you to turn in your stubs and sales to him ( 905 892-6633).
Next we thank Diane Sauder (and her helpers) for getting this newsletter out - Diane was seriously injured in a cycling accident (not hiking!) yet took the initiative to make sure our newsletter was produced and on its way to our almost 600 members
Speaking of the AGM - I urge all club members to consider the message in the latest Bruce Trail magazine - please support our local club by signing up for the Annual General Meeting of the Bruce Trail Association which our club is hosting. We only get it once a decade, so here is the chance to help make us all shine. A reception will be held at the barn at Ball's Falls on Friday, September 17th, with the AGM on the following morning Saturday, September 18th. at Lipa Park. On Saturday afternoon, we will have workshops and hikes, and then the banquet at night with several hikes on Sunday, September 19th. all converging on Queenston Heights, where we will have the Niagara Club's 40th Anniversary cake. (The registration package is in the newsletter & the Bruce Trail magazine.)

Niagara Bruce Trail Club
It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Del on July 16th, 2004, He was on an hiking expedition in Nunavut . Loving companion of Brenda Zadoroznij, Father of of Kathleen (David) Boychuck, Andrew Hilderbrand (Kimberly) and Douglas Hildebrand (Katherine Goll). Loving grandfather of Kara Boychuck.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hiking and backpacking. He was an active member of the Niagara Bruce Trail and past newsletter editor of the club and treasurer of the St. Catharines Historical Society. The NBTA Assoc has donated four footsteps as part of the legacy campaign in his memory. He will be missed on the trail.!!!!
Dear Friends,
Our annual Niagara End to End was held May 24th. It turned out well despite the torrential rain. It was such a success thanks to all the volunteers who assisted in many ways.
At the checkpoints were:
First day — Louise Libera, Ria Laskarin, Brenda Zadoroznij, Kay Marjoram, &Marion Rocceband.
Second day — Margaret Kalogeropoulos, Mike Featherstone, Maria Batcules, Ann Cowper, Del &Linda Mateka, Starlene Azzopardi, Trudy Senesi, Lynda Bonnar, & Bernice Thiessen.
Third day — Frank Delogu, Cathy Baggot, Louise Libera, Audrey Van Russell, Trudy Senesi, & Wendy Fischer
A wonderful lunch was provided by Liz Reaker at the end of the hike at Queenston Heights. Congratulations to the Niagara members who finished & received badges from President Andy Panko. They are Everitt Collins, Vito Fasano, Diana Knight, Marion Rocceband, Ineke Brinkman, Bruce Manion, Marion Hanover, & those 33 hikers that finished the hike. 61 hikers started & 41 finished the 3 day event.
A big thanks to Vince Highcock who organized the hike for the last 6 years & showed me the ropes.
