CONCRETE SHEAR - WALL AND COLUMN DESIGN (IBM & compatibles) CAT.# 124-
D01-38
CSWCD interactively designs variably-shaped concrete shear walls and columns,
according to Chapter 10 of ACI 318-77,by calculating the interaction curve
for the wall or column. It determines the ultimate load and moment capacities
at various positions of the neutral axis of the wall and column
configuration, and interactively reduces the neutral axis until the ultimate
load is zero. The ultimate moment using Phi = 0.90 is defined at Pu = 0.
The shear wall or column is represented by a series of up to eight
rectangular shapes, together with their reinforcing steel area and location.
CSWCD calculates a series of points on the interaction curve for the shear
wall and column. The steel area in the rectangular shapes may then be easily
changed without re-entry of dimensional information, and the interaction
curve recalculated for several different steel schedules. The calculated
points are used to construct a family of interaction curves on a suitable
form (printed by the program). You select the proper steel schedule for each
level in the building by noting the relation of the moments at each level to
the interaction curve for each steel schedule. CSWCD allows reversal of the
moment direction for unsymmetrical shear walls and recalculation of curve
points, without re-entry of data.
A simple "sequential system" data-input format is used to reduce entry time.
Entries are clearly prompted at every step. CSWCD is an unusually flexible
program which is applicable to the design of almost any shape of shear wall
or column. English units only. CSWCD includes an 80-page manual.
