Driving
down the road this past week, I noticed that up in a tree some 25 feet high,
2 raccoons were sitting and hugging each other as they soaked in the rays
of the early morning sunshine. No doubt there may be some that would have
shot the poor creatures as they looked like easy prey. I stopped and marveled
at their gesture of companionship. The dark fringes of their eyes looked
quite cute as they peered down at me. No doubt, they were one up on me,
literally. Interesting.
It
reminded me of another incident. One evening I saw a raccoon holding silent
vigil beside the road. It's mate had been killed by some vehicle and of
course, this partner appeared quite sad at the loss. Animals do have a sense
of compassion for one another. Interesting.
The next morning, I went to the Devil's Elbow. I just
got there and could hardly believe it. I looked again and there they were..
laying in the snow!
Running up to my partner I said, "Praise the Lord!" Overwhelmed,
he asked, "Why would you say that for finding those keys?" I told him that
I was praying for it all last night and he thought I was off my rocker.
On further reflection, it was Jesus Christ who also hung
on a tree (cross), but for a different reason. Romans 5:8 says that God
showed His love for us by sending his Son Jesus to die for us. But why did
He have to die? |

Romans
3:23 and 6:23 says that we all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory
and the result of our sin is death or separation from God. When Jesus
died on the cross and later arose again, He provided a way out for man's
sin. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your
life! This was His sacrifice for our sins. It was His love for us that
made Him take our pain, our misery so that we could have life and life
eternal. What a Saviour we have! Thank you Jesus for dying on the tree
(cross) at Calvary. Jesus is one up on us! Why don't you open your door,
turn from the vacuum you live in and let Christ take control of your life.
That's what I would call interesting!
