El
Nino has been in the news quite a bit lately. It is a weather phenomenon
that originates in the Pacific Ocean and affects much of the Americas.
Spanish
fisherman noticed it back in 1567 and coined the name, "El Nino." Apparently,
at the equator in the Pacific, winds usually blow from West to East. But
in an El Nino year, the winds blow from East to West. These winds push the
warm waters to the Americas, raising the level up to two feet higher, compared
with the other side of the ocean. The winds pick up the warm moisture and
dump it on North America's West coast. Millions of dollars were spent in
trying to combat the potential hazards of El Nino. How much damage will
it inflict? Meteorologists are perplexed at this question.
In Spanish, "El Nino" means "Christ-Child" since this
phenomenon occurs at Christmas time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus
Christ. Perhaps the Spanish fishermen were also aware of the power of the
first "El Nino" two thousand years ago. This Christ-Child had come into
the world to unleash His power and change the world we live in.
You may be in jail or bedridden. You may feel imprisoned
by your friends and family. Perhaps you suffer from some form of abuse.
Studies show that many people become very depressed during this time of
year. How about you? Do songs like, "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and
"Jingle Bells" make you want to scream because you know that life is terrible
right now and you can't cope? |

El
Nino, the Christ-Child, has an answer for all this. In the Bible, it says
that Jesus Christ came to set prisoners free. It doesn't mean that He
will get you out of jail or that hospital bed, but He can provide an answer
for your inner self. He can fill you with a satisfying joy that no other
gift-giver could buy, no drink can conquer. He will move those clouds
that darken your life and will give you a new hope a new reason and live.
Let El Nino, the Christ-Child, unleash His power and
set you free today!
