Crying Night and Day
Scripture: Jeremiah 33:3

I received an invitation to go on a yacht cruise with Gazu, my new employer. This was a chance to discover some corporate skills with this entrepreneur. We motored out of the harbor and into a fine breeze. To my dismay, Gazu said that he was tired and wished to nap. He had been busy dealing with 'people problems.'
A squall hit our boat a few nautical miles out. Furiously, the waves whipped over the boat, almost swamping it. Frightened, we awoke Gazu but he looked at the storm and said, "Stop, you beastly waves, just cool it!" The storm abated! It was unreal! We were dumbfounded.
Gazu asked to pull into the harbor at Gerasenes to check out some investments. Suddenly, we heard this rogue shouting and swearing. Gazu said something to him and before we knew it, this herd of pigs on a distant hillside came running like the devil toward us. They ran over the cliff and into the bay. Of course, the citizens wanted us to leave right away. This rogue, quite calm by now, wanted to come along but Gazu asked him to check out the investments in the 10 cities nearby.

This story, paraphrased from Mark 4-5, illustrates how Jesus went far beyond Himself to encourage this rogue to join his crew. You see, the man was chained to many bad habits. You may be chained to bad habits, hooked on drugs and alcohol, or linked to pornography. Night and day you cry out for help. Nothing seems to help. Everything is futile and desolate. Jesus can help you in your storm. He can release that demon within you that cries out.

A Suggested Prayer: "Jesus, I too feel like the rogue who cries night and day for help. I am chained to my addiction and desperate for relief. Only You can thwart the demon that is within me. I give you my life and my bad habits and I ask you to make me clean with Your shed blood as You died on the cross for my sin and misery. Amen!"
