Scripture:  Matthew 11:28-30

In 1963, kids all across North America were horrified to see two of their best friends, Barney and Fred, being dragged to a deep hole. The kids sat spell-bound in anticipation. Would Barney and Fred be thrown into the bottomless pit?
Fred was very frightened but Barney stopped everybody and said, "Here, give me a big stone and I will drop it down. Let's see what will happen." He dropped the stone and everybody listened and waited. They listened and waited some more. No sound came. It was a bottomless pit!
When I thought some more, it occurred to me that the story is like what happens in our lives.  We set in our mind to go across life on our own sail.  Suddenly, the winds roar, the water whips up and we become afraid.  Jesus soon comes our way and we might even become fearful of who He is.  We may be afraid of the supernatural and what He might expect us to do.
I thought of these silly cartoons I watched when I was younger. Our life does have a bottom to it in that we will die at some point. But there is a great plan for us, one that will give us everlasting life. Like the stone falling into bottomless pit, we can continue forever and ever. Of course, we are not perfect and because of the sins we have committed in our lives, our life could come crashing to a halt. God's plan offers us His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. If we individually receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives. And part of that plan is that we can go on forever, just like the stone falling into the bottomless pit.

Would you wish to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior? He will remove the heavy stone that keeps you from seeing His wonderful plan, the colors of the rainbow, and the real hope that can be yours!

A Suggested Prayer: "God, many times I feel like I'm falling away from your brilliant sunshine. As life continues, life gets darker and sadder. Tragedy overwhelms me and grief and despair are the walls that surround me. How long can I fall before I crash into a zillion pieces? I ask you to catch me and let me realize that wonderful plan that You have for me. Forgive my wrongs. Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross so that I can serve You. Amen!"
