The icon of the Dormition of the Mother of God. Jesus is holding the little soul of Mary on her first day in heaven. This icon by presenting the separation of the body and soul implies the death of the Blessed Virgin Mary. St. Peter leads the funeral incensing Mary's body. Peter as the head of the Church on earth offers to heaven the earth's greatest possession - the Virgin Mary. St. Paul, on the other side, bown in veneration to the Mother of God. Apostles and women who stood by the crucified Jesus are also at the funeral. The bishops in the back represent all the people who will celebrate the Feast of the Holy Dormition.
